JKCA LogoThe 19 affiliated clubs of the J&K Cricket Association have raised their voices against what they term illegal activities of JKCA General Secretary Iqbal Shah. The clubs have also objected to the appointment of Retired Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Iqbal Ahmad Ansari as Ombudsman for solving out disputes I the cticket body.

“A meeting of the members of working committee of JKCA was held at hotel Savoy Jammu on May 24 to discuss the situation arising out of the recent notice issued by General Secretary Iqbal Shah in appointing a Retired Chief Justice of Patna High Court Iqbal Ahmad Ansari as Ombudsman in JKCA,” club amalgam statement said.

“Out of a total Of 25 Affiliated clubs other than Govt. Institutions 19 clubs participated in the meeting. The members expressed strong objection to Iqbal Shah’s conduct who has developed the habit of issuing ‘fabricated’ minutes and recording decisions which have not at all been discussed in the meetings. The members, who attended the working committee meeting of September 18, 2016 totally refuted the claim of Iqbal Shah that any decision to appoint Ombudsman was ever taken,” it further said.

Iqbal Shah is misleading the clubs as the appointment of Ombudsman is possible only once the rules of JKCA are amended and Lodha recommendations are incorporated as per Supreme Court Judgment July 18th, 2016. The same has not been done so far therefore question of appointment of Ombudsman does not arise at all, statement said.

The members resolved that a request be made to committee of administrators of BCCI to appoint a convenor who shall call the meeting of association for amending the constitution in light of Supreme Court Judgement as at present persons from both the factions claiming to be President stand sacked by the Supreme Court vide its order dated January, 3rd 2017 as one being the Minister and other being above 70 years of age, it said.

Statement further said that Other office bearers from both factions are also disqualified therefore the meeting of the association can be held only under convenor/administrator either appointed by Court or by BCCI. The sacked officials are indulging in gross violation of Supreme Court Orders. It was therefore decided that a contempt petition shall be filed against these illegal office bearers in the Supreme Court and also the High Court will be approached for appointment of administrator for implementing the judgement of the Supreme Court.
