With more than six years now, J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) has failed to complete the work on the multi-purpose indoor sports hall at Polo Ground Srinagar where the work started in 2013.
Government had assured the completion of the multi-purpose hall within six months but the work has missed several deadlines.
The work on the indoor hall started on November 27, 2013 after its foundation stone was laid by then Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports Taj Mohi-ud-Din who announced that multi-purpose facility would be built at a cost of Rs 1.82 crore.
The hall would have facilities for games like basketball, judo, martial arts, table tennis etc.
Sources in Sports Council said the work is likely to restart soon as funds have been released.
The dumped construction material has had impact on the condition of Polo Ground.
Secretary J&K State Sports Council Dr Naseem Javed Chaudhry said that work is going to restart soon on the Indoor Hall as Sports Council has got funds for its completion.
“We will be issuing fresh tenders for the remaining work and the work will restart and will be completed,” he said.
