Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists Friday stopped the football match between the students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and Jammu University for allegedly “disrespecting National Anthem”.
Sources said, the soccer match was being played between student teams at Jammu University playground when the ABVP activists arrived and disallowed the Kashmiri students from final match.
“We were playing our final match with Jammu University students, all of a sudden around forty men waving ABVP flags and shouted ” If you want to live here, sing vande matram” one of the team members of IUST told Rising Kashmir from Jammu.
“When National Anthem was played before the match started, all team members stood for it. We didn’t show any disrespect when it was played. I don’t know why ABVP men asked us to stand again for National Anthem and this time again we all stood for it,” he added.
He termed the allegations against team as baseless.
Alleging the authorities of Jammu University maintained silence during the match proceeding, the IUST student said “They didn’t stop ABVP men to interfere in the match. We all left the ground and reached to the hostel.” ( Source Rising Kashmir)
