Playing his third league match after landing in England, cricketer Ahmad Omar Banday shined with ball to help his team Bury Cricket Club beat Whalley Range CC in Division-1A of Greater Manchester Cricket League at Whalley Range CC, Lancashire.banday1

Having average contribution with bat for his team so far, Banday has shined with the ball in the league, according to reports reaching here.

The J&K Ranji trophy cricketer in third league match during his England stint shined with the ball by taking four wickets. He also scored 17 runs in a low scoring tie.

In the Division 1A league for Bury Cricket Club, Banday has so far taken eight wickets in three matches while as has contributed with 42 runs.

Banday who was this year top run getter for J&K Ranji trophy team and also shined for Under-23 JK side that made it to quarterfinal stage recently joined Bury Cricket Club that plays in Greater Manchester League.

On Sunday, batting first Bury in tough conditions scored 190 runs for the loss of four wickets in allotted 50-overs. Ahmad Banday scored 17 off 20 balls. B Gorton top scored with 48 while as M Nasir remained unbeaten on 39.

In reply, Whalley Range CC got all out for 175 runs in 48.1 overs. For Bury, G Nolte took four wickets in nine overs while as their overseas professional player from Kashmir Ahmad Banday took four wickets in his allotted 12 over’s. Banday gave away only 40 runs and it included three maidens.

In J&K, Banday is currently considered as the new batting mainstay of J&K Ranji team but in England so far he has shined more with the ball. Asked about that, he said, “I am basically an all-rounder and very few people in Kashmir know about that. I made debut for J&K at Under-16 level as an all-rounder who bowled medium pacers”.
