Bandipora, August 13: Continuing his brilliance, Imran Haji, Thursday steered Bandipora Gymkhana to the quarter-finals of Cool & Cool Cup at S.N Gazi Ground, Watapora.

Haji, first, remained wrecker-in-chief with the ball, scalping a three-wicket-haul, and later stood stall with the bat, handing Gymkhana a 6-wicket win against Blue Stars Onagam.

Earlier, after opting to bat first, Onagam started with a splash, scoring as many as 39 runs in first three overs before Gymkhana bowlers made an astonishing comeback. They tightened their lines, making it tough to score for batsmen, which ultimately led to a couple of quick wickets.

Spin-duo of Tawfeeq and Imran shared five wickets amongst themselves to restrict Blue Stars to a below-par total of 113 runs. Ishfaq with 23 runs finished as the top-scorere for them.

Chasing a small total, Bandipora side also started well. Faisal (17) and Rashid (8) struck some punches earlier on, setting the platform for middle-order batters.

After both were sent back to the pavilion, captain Imran Haji and Zubair Yahya took the task to themselves. They played off the good balls while took the aerial root, whenever finding an opportunity.

The duo stitched a long partnership, almost taking Gymkhana home. Imran departed after scoring 28 runs while Zubair remained unbeaten on 29 runs.

With this win, the Gymkhana side made it to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
