The all-round show by J&K players helped team to register third straight win in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament as they defeated Assam by 79 runs at Chennai on October 11.jka

Playing its last match of the tournament, J&K aimed to finish on high after having earlier suffered 6 straight defeats. J&K did finish the job perfectly by registering a comfortable 79 run win against Assam.  With this win they finished tournament with 6-3 win loss ratio. After setbacks J&K have now registering three straight wins.

In the match, both J&K batting and bowling shined. Batting first J&K had posted 272/7 in allotted overs. In reply Assam got all out for 193 runs in 48.2 overs.

Assam chase was rattled in very first over by Irfan Pathan who picked in his fourth delivery. After that Umer Nazir gave Assam double blow leaving them 26/3 in 5.6 overs. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals with whole team getting all out for 193. Only resistance from Assam camp , camp from Amit Sinha who brilliant 81 before being last wicket to fall in Assam inning. For J&K Irfan Pathan and Umer Nazir took three wickets each while as Waseem Raza took two. Parvez Rasool picked one wicket.

Earlier Ahmad Banday and Shubham Khajuria scored brilliant fifty plus scores as J&K posted 272/7.

After winning the toss, J&K openers, Ahmad Banday and Shubham Khajuria batted beautiful putting up 148 run for the first wicket in 27 overs. Banday was first wicket to fall in JK inning scoring, 79 off 99 that included 2 sixes and 10 fours. Khajuria who started slowly picked up pace later in his inning. He got out after scoring 72 off 72 with 6 fours, 3 sixes. Pranav Gupta and Ian Dev couldn’t do much scoring 12 off 19 and 13 off 21 respectively. Parvez Rasool played a cameo of 26 off 25 before getting out. Pundir got out after 23 while as Fazil was last wicket to fall in Jk inning scoring only 8. Irfan Pathan batted till the end as J&K finished on 272/7 in 50 overs. Irfan remained not out on 25 off 25.
