Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Sunday came under scanner for dropping experienced campaigner, Mohammed Mudhasir from the T20 squad.

Earlier, the senior selection panel headed by Rashid Patel announced the 17-member squad for upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The team enclosed a few surprises like Mudhasir’s exclusion and inclusion of out of scene pacer, Ram Dayal.

The Srinagar-born cricketer produced some exceptional performances in the Ranji Trophy, including a record four wickets in as many balls against Rajasthan. However, the pacer has been axed from the T20 team, making cricket fraternity and fans question the decision.

“If Mudhasir was quite successful in Ranji Trophy, what’s the reason of dropping him in T20 side?,” a former JKCA official said.

He also opposed the inclusion of fitness-questioned Ram Dayal in the squad,

“Ram was out for the whole season due to an injury. I think it was time for him to hang his boots as he is no more the same bowler at this age,” He added.

Fans also expressed outrage over Mudhasir’s absence in the team,

“JKCA should back its match-winners and Mudhasir has been one of them. It makes no sense to drop him for such an important tournament,” a fan said.
