The semifinals of ongoing Chief Minister’s T-20 tournament for women were played today at Parade Ground Jammu, Director General of police Dr. S.P Vaid was the chief guest on the second semifinal which was played between Jammu Queens and Panjab birds.
The DGP while interacting with the players said it was a joy to watch the girls playing and excelling in different fields and added that participation is more important than winning. He wished good luck to the teams.
While speaking to the media the DGP said that youth particularly the women from the Jammu and Kashmir are bringing laurels to the state in the field of sport and also by passing civil service examinations. It was an idea presented by Director General/Commandant General, Home Guards/Civil Defence & SDRF, J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh to bring women teams from across the county and organize the T-20 Cricket event in the state as our Chief Minister is also a woman. This was a good initiative, DGP said while answering the media persons regarding organizing the CM’s T-20 Premier for women. Dr. Vaid said that international players from Nepal and Bangladesh are playing in the tournament and added that it will help to improve the performance of the participating teams. He further said that Jammu and Kashmir police has been organizing a number of sports events for the youth of the state to enhance their talent.
IGP Jammu, Dr. SD Singh, Standing Committee member J&K State Sports Council Ranjeet Kalra and a number of senior officers of Police, besides a huge gathering witnessed the semifinal.
