As J&K Under-19 team faced a crushing defeat in the very first match of Vinoo Mankad Trophy, the questions are being raised over the selection panel, that consists of ‘former discards’ whose career average counts 18, 20 and 21.
Soon after the team was announced, people lashed out at the selectors for dropping some deserving candidates and preferring ‘blue-eyed’ players in the team. The fiasco was unveiled in the very first match as the team faced a 103-run defeat against Saurashtra on Friday.
“When the selectors have the career average of 18,20 and 21, how can we expect good performances from the team. It’s absolute blunder on the name of the selection,” a former cricketer told KSW.
He also questioned the JKCA’s approach of appointing selectors for an important task like U-19 team,
“How come JKCA appoint these discarded former cricketers as selectors. They have failed during their own career, now what they can they do as selectors,” he added.
It seems removal of selectors is the only thing that might shift the things to the right ways,
“In order to set the things, JKCA must take action by removing these selectors,” he further said.
