Srinagar: The selection trials of Downtown Heroes Football Club would be held on September 13 and 14 at Islamia College Ground Hawal Srinagar.
After getting permission to hold trials at the venue, the club would be holding open selection trials on September 13 and 14 from 6:30 AM to 11 AM. The trials would be held by expert selectors lead by coaching panel of the club. For the selection process J&K Football Association has deputed its referees and on the inaugural day some officials of JKFA are also expected to be present as guests.
The club is based in Old City of Srinagar and draws its name from there. It has been established by a group of football loving persons with the aim to step into I-League in future. The club aims to provide top class facilities to its members and want to give every aspiring footballer fair chance to book place in the team.
“Since the time we announced that we are going to conduct open selection trials, the club office has received hundreds of registration forms. We were even receiving queries from National and International players from different parts. Seeing the rush, we had to restrain trials for the J&K based players only,” said club Head Coach Mohammad Hanief.
“It is first step towards a brighter future. It is mere start as we aim bigger goals and want to provide footballers platform to excel,” he added.
