One of the leading publications of India, Economic Times has named Jammu and Kashmir cricket prodigy, Rasikh Salam in their list of players to watch during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.

The mega-league kickstarted on Saturday with defending champions, Chennai Super Kings crushing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match.

Rasikh, 17, was picked by Mumbai Indians in the auctions, becoming third J&K cricketer to get an IPL bid. The right-arm pacer caught the limelight after producing some scintillating performances in his debut outing in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Rasikh has impressed Mumbai team management in their pre-season camp, which was revealed by Director, Zaheer Khan in a press conference couple of days ago.

Here is what the Economic Times wrote about Rasikh,

Only the third cricketer from Kashmir to figure in the Indian Premier League, the fast bowler from Kulgam district has caught the eye through his ability to mix up accurate yorkers with in swingers, all while pushing the 135kmh mark. Playing alongside Irfan Pathan helped Rasikh climb the cricketing ladder, and when only 17 he received a trial at the Mumbai Indians nets. Don’t forget it was as an unknown that Jasprit Bumrah was spotted by John Wright during a talent scouting mission. MI will be hoping that Rasikh’s trajectory will be similar, once he gets opportunities to prove himself.”

The Rohit Sharma-led side will face Delhi Capitals on Sunday in their first match of the season. However, it’s unlikely for Rasikh to make his debut so early in the tournament. Meanwhile, fans back home are hoping to see the teenager in action in the later part of the league.
