Srinagar, Aug 2: Football fraternity lead by J&K Football Association (JKFA) have condoled the demise of Kashmir football legend Mehraj ud Din Khan (Mehraj Maidani).

As per JKFA statement the former Kashmir footballer Mehraj ud Din Khan passed away on August 2.

“He was a great footballer, starting his football career in 1960’s , he went on to play for Silk Factory XI, SRTC and Food And Supplies. He participated in many Tournaments like Durand Cup, Santosh Trophy (10 times) , other major tournaments of the India and earned a name for himself as one of the best defender in the history of J&K football, ” JKFA statement read.

“He will always be remembered for his gentle nature, straight forwardness and above all the good qualities he possessed, ” Statement further said.

“Football fraternity is saddened to learn about the demise of the legend footballer. We all pray to almighty Allah to bestow peace upon the departed Soul and give forbearance to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. His passing away has created a void which is difficult to be filled & has left deep imprints. JKFA shares the grief with the bereaved family at this sad hour, ” Statement added.
