For the preparation of January 26 Republic Day function district Administration Budgam has wrecked havoc in the sports stadium Budgam, damaging its turf and the outfield.

The residents and the local sports associations of Budgam have sent Kashmir Sports Watch (KSW) number of photographs in which they have requested KSW to highlight the issue. As per them Sports Council is acting as silent spectator while administration is doing all the work to make things ready for January 26 function.

“We are not against conducting function but at the same time stadium shouldn’t be damaged. District administration officials how are doing work don’t know difference between a sports stadium and an ordinary field. It was job of sports council who should have supervised the work. But they did nothing and hence the field has been damaged,” said a member of local sports organization.
