The entire cricket fraternity has condoled the demise of veteran cricketer and former J&K Cricket Association Vice-Chairman and founding member JKCA, Ghulam Muhammad Runga who passed away after brief illness on Wednesday evening. GM Ronga

Runga was known as ‘king’ of cricket in old city. He was General Secretary of well known cricket club UCC which had high profile cricketers in it.

Gani Kashmir Sports Club, Downtown Champions League- T20, former JKCA General Secretary Saleem Khan and International cricketer Parvez Rasool condoled his demise.

J&K Ranji Trophy team held a condolence meeting at Lahli in Haryana before the start of their practice session and prayed for the departed soul.

“Being a former cricketer and administrator he contributed a lot in the development of cricket in state. It is big loss for JK cricket and now we can only pray for his soul,” said Parvez Rasool.

Former JKCA president and president National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah along with MLA Ali Muhammad Sagar visited the residence at Jamallata area of Srinagar on Thursday and expressed their condolences with the bereaved family.
