G D C Ganderbal Cricket Eleven defeated G D C Baramulla eleven by 10 runs in the finals of 12th Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Cup played at Islamia College play field today.
After winning the toss the Baramulla College captain invited the opposite team to bat and they scored 200 runs in alloted 25 overs on Islamia college turf wicket, for the loss of 6 wickets. Aqib Parray with 55 and Aqib Manzoor with 54 were the prominent scorers for GDC Ganderbal . Mudasir took 3 and Junaid 1 wicket for Baramulla team. Chasing a stif target of 201 runs Baramulla College team fell short of the target by 10 runs and lost the match. For Baramulla team Junaid and Tajamul scored 57 and 45 runs respectively. Danish and Hussain took 3 wickets each for the Ganderbal team.
Ealier the player of both the teams were introduced to the Prof. Yaseen Ahmad Shah Principal Islamia College before the start of the match.
Tajamul of GDC Baramulla was adjudged the man of the tournament.
The Chief Guest on the occasion Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah Deputy Commissioner Srinagar gave away the prizes and medals to the players at the award ceremony in the end.
The tournament was organised by the department of Physical Education of the college in which 15 teams of the leading Valley colleges participated.
