NationalGeeta Phogat appointed DSP in Haryana Police on sports quota

CHANDIGARH: Haryana government appointed international woman wrestler Geeta Phogat as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Haryana Police.

A proposal of the home department was approved at a meeting of the state cabinet on Tuesday presided over by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
An official spokesman said that Phogat is a graduate and a sportsperson of international repute. She is also a gold medallist of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The State Cabinet also approved the proposal of the Home Department to appoint mountaineer Ram Lal as Sub Inspector in Haryana Police Department against sports quota.
The Cabinet also approved the proposal to appoint mountaineer Ram Lal as Sub-Inspector under the sports quota.

In the past, a number of international and national award winning sportspersons from Haryana have been recruited in the Haryana Police and the state government, including Olympic bronze medallist boxer Vijender Singh.
