Srinagar, July 7: With the efforts of renowned sports administrator and former Sports Council member Ranjeet Kalra, the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of District Bandipora has agreed to review the ground situation of Hajin Sports Ground.

The local sportspersons of the Hajin have been protesting from days now against the conversion of beautifull Hajin Sports Ground into Degree College. They have been requesting administration to chose some other location for the proposed college and leave ground as it, as it is main playing field in the area.

Seeing one such plea of locals, Ranjeet Kalra launched his own efforts to save the ground. He first apprised about the facility to Advisor to Governor Farooq Khan and then contacted DC Bandipora as well.

Both have given assurances to Kalra that every effort would be made to save the ground and make elaborate arrangement for the Degree College as well.

“When I heard about this ground and then checked it’s pics I was really shocked that they are going to build college on this. I contacted Khan sahab and informed him about it. I also informed Secretary Sports Council about the same, ” Kalra said.

“Today I spoke with DC Bandipora and apprised him about the ground. He gave positive response and said he will personally visit ground tomorrow (Wednesday) and will look into all possibilities of construction College at other place, ” He said.

Kalra said that he told DC Bandipora that this is beautifull ground and it would be criminal to snatch it from the youth.

“It is beautifull ground and to convert it into concrete jungle would be criminal. College is also important but I am sure there will be land available elsewhere. If I am not wrong locals have said that there is plenty of land available nearby,” He added.
