Buoyed by his performance in otherwise a disappointing outing for Pakistan team against West Indies in ICC Cricket World Cup opener at Trentbridge, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has said that team depend on him to give early breakthroughs.
In the match Pakistan were thrashed by Windies by seven wickets after bundling them for 105 run total. For Pakistan only silver lining was out form pacer Amir taking three wickets in his six overs.
“A bowler only gains confidence when he takes wickets and in my case in the recent past wickets had stopped coming. Now I have started taking wickets this is also beneficial to the team if I as a main strike bowler am able to take wickets,” Amir said.
“In the Champions Trophy we also lost the first game and then built momentum later on. We need to play with a positive mindset, should not get disheartened and we need to focus on the matches ahead,” he added.
Pakistan skipper termed it good for the team, and said, “ We definitely bowled well. It was good to have Mohammad Amir back in form, we know what he is capable of and it will be good for us in the coming matches”.
