Brushing aside the questions about his power hitting, the Pakistan’s top batsman Babar Azam has said if he can be No.1 in World T20 batsman without power then he don’t need to worry for that.

Pakistan’s middle-order star Babar Azam is known for his stylish shots along the ground and he thinks that he will come good when need for power hitting arises.

In a report on ICC official website Baba Azam was quoted as saying, “If I can be No.1 in the world in the ICC T20I Rankings for batting without power hitting, then I don’t need power hitting,” he said. “But when I need to, I utilise it well. I don’t just play along the ground. I practice hitting the ball big and when needed, I use it”.

He further said his role is to play long inning and play role of anchor for his team to take inning deep as possible.

“My role is to play out the full overs. My individual role is to take the innings as deep as I can and perform in a way that benefits the team most of all,” he said.

Pakistan’s series against England will start with a one-off T2OI in Cardiff on 5 May and the all-important ODI series will begin on 8 May.
