LocalI-League: Kashmir FC look to upset star studded Southern Samity

After earning crucial  draw in their opening match of the final round Second Division I-League match against Fateh Hyderabad, Srinagar based I-League football club, Kashmir FC is looking to upset star studded hosts Southern Samity AFC at Barasat stadium, Kolkatta on Thursday.

In the final round of the league there are six teams who have been pitted against each other. In the first fixture of the league none of the teams were able to register an outright win. However, teams that have registered draw like Kashmir FC got away with psychological edge.Kashmir Fc

In the points table of the league, all teams are tied with one point each. However, on goal difference Kenkre FC leads the table while as Delhi United is at second place.

Kashmir FC is placed at fifth place while as their opponents Sothern Samity is at fourth place after playing 1-1 draw against Nerofa FC.

On paper hosts Southern City look far better side than Kashmir FC boosting some of the known faces of Indian football arena. Southern Samity includes player like Odafa Okolie who recently was reckoned as top footballer in Indian football. Nigerian was the highest paid footballer in I-league earning INR 3 crore per year in 2011. Hosts have signed him for the final round and only in his first match he scored the all important goal for the team that earned them draw against Neroca FC.

Kashmir FC coach, Hilal Rasool Parray is not worried about the star studded lineup of their opponents and is focused on his own game plan.

“At this level every other side will be better than previous one. Every side has boosted itself with star players and each side will give it their best short for qualifying into I-League. If we concentrate on their star power then we will lose our focus and game plan,” he said.

“After earning crucial draw against Fateh, we moved to Kolkatta and had three very good training sessions. The weather is warm with humidity level high. The match is set to be played on Astro Turf and that will add to the temperature on the field. We are keeping our focus on that perspective as well,” he said.

The Kashmir FC has been boosted by the inclusion of one of the leading strikers of qualifying round, Aaakif Reshi who has missed the opening tie. ( Source Greater Kashmir)
