Srinagar: Top women cricketer of J&K, Jasia Akhtar has been selected for the India-A team for the Challenger Trophy cricket tournament.
Jasia is top women cricketer from J&K who plays for Punjab at national level. She has previously got selected for India camp several times and last year also got her place in the inaugural season of Women Indian Premier League.
This season she has been in prime form for Punjab side in the domestic circuit and played some match winning innings for her team. It is on the basis of those performances that she has been selected for the Challenger Trophy cricket tournament. In Challenger trophy shortlisted players from all over Country are divided in three teams.
She has been selected for the India-A lead by Harman Preet Kaur and the matches would start at Cuttack from January 4 and matches would live on Star Sports 2.
Last year Jasia lead Punjab to the Domestic T20 title while as she finished among the top three run getters in Country. This year they have missed to bag the title but Jasia has been at her usual best of being in top 10 highest run getters in Country.
