Srinagar: The star female Judo player of the J&K, Kabra Altaf has bagged bronze medal for J&K in the ongoing Khelo India Games 2020 at Guwahati.

Kabra who is top Judo player of J&K and over the years has bagged number of medals at National levels represented J&K in the prestigious Khelo-India Games 2020. In the 78-kilogram category, Kabra overpowered her opponent from Kerala to win solitary medal for J&K in Judo. The Srinagar born sportswoman while expressing happiness over the achievement said that she would have been happier if it would have been a gold medal.

“Although I am happy with my performance, winning gold here is still a dream that is unfulfilled. So, I am fully motivated to strive hard and stretch my limits for that,” Kabra said.

“I participated in 78-kilogram category which is two categories above my previous level. It was quite challenging from gaining weight to maintaining the concentration,” she added.

There were five participants in Judo from Kashmir that included four girls and one boy. Apart from Kabra, Jammu’s Balveen Kour bagged a medal in Gymnastics in the mega event for J&K.

Meanwhile Director General Youth Services and Sports, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman congratulated Kabra and lauded her efforts for good performance. He also appreciated other performers and coach for good display.
