India skipper Virat Kohli is on the cusp of entering the 10,000 runs club in ODI cricket. Going into the second fixture against Windies in Visakhapatnam, Kohli is 81 runs short of the 10K-mark.Kohli

When he breaks into the elite club, he will join Indian cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, M.S. Dhoni and Rahul Dravid.

Kohli will be the fastest to the magic number surpassing all legends in time taken and number of innings played.

At 9, 919 runs in 204 innings, he is 54 innings ahead of Tendulkar who heads the list dominated by Asians. Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis and Brian Lara are the only non-Asians on the list.

Virat Kohli’s average of 58.69 is also the higher than anyone’s in the 10k club.

The 10k Club (in order of fastest to the mark)

1. Sachin Tendulkar: 259 innings, 11 years and 103 days

2. Sourav Ganguly: 263 innings, 13 years and 204 days

3. Ricky Ponting: 266 innings, 12 years and 37 days

4. Jacques Kallis: 272 innings, 13 years and 14 days

5. M.S. Dhoni: 273 innings, 13 years and 203 days

6. Brian Lara: 278 innings, 16 years and 37 days

7. Rahul Dravid: 287 innings, 10 years and 317 days

8. T. Dilshan: 293 innings, 15 years and 227 days

9. K. Sangakkara: 296 innings, 11 years and 227 days

10. Inzamam-ul-Haq: 299 innings, 12 years and 302 days

11. Sanath Jayasuriya: 328 innings, 15 years and 226 days

12. Mahela Jayawardene: 333 innings, 13 years and 298 days

With a hundred against Windies in the first ODI at Guwahati, Kohli became the fastest to 60 international hundreds – 36 in ODIs and 24 in Tests.

Twenty out of his 36 hundreds in ODIs have come in successful chases, in which his average is a staggering 98.25. He scored eight of them while chasing scores above 300. India’s win percentage when Kohli scores a century is 89%.
