Kupwara, May 19: Basit Bashir, a young fast-bowler from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, has been selected for the Zonal Cricket Academy U-16 Camp.

Riding on his special performances in the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, the right-arm seamer is the only player from Jammu and Kashmir to have found a place in this Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)-organised camp, which will take place at Delhi.

In a meeting held by Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) at Feroz Shah Kotla, 25 players were nominated from North India for his Zonal Cricket Academy camp.

From Jammu and Kashmir, JKCA CEO, Ashiq Bukhari was present in the meeting.

Apart from Basit, Jammu cricketer Nityam Abrol has been kept in the five standbys for the camp.

Playing his debut season, Basit shone with the ball in the U-16 tournament for J&K, scalping a couple of five-wicket-hauls, hence making it to the prime ZCA camp.
