Srinagar, March 12: Shakoor Ahmed, a Kupwara native, secured a silver medal in Ice stock sport during the recently concluded first Khelo India Winter Games at Gulmarg.

The young athlete competed with players from states of Haryana, Jarkhand and Mahrashtra in his way to clinch the medal.

”I am happy with my performance. It feels great to see events like these happening in Kashmir. It helps players in showcasing their skills.” Shakoor Ahmed said after winning the silver at the event.

The first Khelo India Winter Games were held at Gulmarg amid coronavirus threat and chilly weather from 7th to 11th March 2020, witnessing participants from all over the country.

The event also saw huge gathering of local people who thronged to the tourist destination to enjoy the Games apart from the beautiful serene of Gulmarg.
