Srinagar, June 11:  The Department of Youth Services and Sports today organized grand opening ceremony for Inter-District State Level Mega football competition at TRC Astro-Turf football Ground.

Financial Commissioner Jammu & Kashmir State Dr. AK Mehta was chief guest while as Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Department of Youth Services & Sports J&K, Sarmand Hafeez was Guest of honor. Senior Police officers among other officials from Youth services & Sports & J&K State Sports Council were present at the grand function. 88 teams both Boys & Girls across the geography of J&K in two age groups 13-16 & 17-19 are participating in the tournament. More than one thousand two hundred players and officials are participating in this Mega event.

Director General Youth Services & Sports J&K Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman presented the welcome address at the inaugural function. A colorful March-past by participating Teams both Boys & Girls was the highlight of the event. The competition shall last till 15-06-2019 followed by a closing ceremony at the same venue. The matches for Girls will be played at District Ganderbal, while as boys will compete for the title at different venues of District Srinagar. Chief Guest in his address applauded the role of Youth Services & Sports Department in conducting such type of activities round the year and assured his full cooperation for the upliftment of Sports in J&K.

Inaugural Day Match results:

In 13-16 years  Boys , Pulwama V/s  Udhampur —-Pulwama won the match by 4:0

13-16 years Boys between Ramban &  Poonch—- Poonch scored 5 Goals to nil

13-16 years Boys, Doda VS Kathua —- Kathua won by 3:0

17-19 years Boys,  Leh Vs Ramban —- Leh Won by 06 Goals to nil

17 to 19 years Age group Boys between Udhampur VS Shopain, Udhampur was leading by 1-0 till this report was filed last.
