Manzoor Ahmad Dar commonly known as Pandav is a popular cricketer of valley known for his power hitting and huge sixes. Though till now, he has failed...
Though till now, he has failed to give any justifying performance at higher level. People of valley (mostly those who know less about cricket) are often seen praising him and quoting that he deserves IPL and International cricket. But going into stats, one would say that his place in J&K T20 team too is not justified. He was picked in the team this year largely due to few cameos he had contributed last year. This year, he completely failed to give any praiseworthy performance so far as he again scored 1 run in today’s match against Delhi.
“When I first heard about this Pandav, I thought he might be some sensation but it seems like he has been overrated for nothing but scoring tons in grass fields” said a well known cricket follower of Valley He also added, “Some FB pages which are handled by non professionals who know nothing about cricket have made this Pandav superstar though his performances are mere digits.”
His weak fitness and lack of fielding skills have also been a concern as he drops even easy catches at times. “I don’t know why people here are making him hero for nothing. Playing matting cricket in ‘gullies’ and playing cricket at national level are poles apart.” said another follower of J&K cricket His performances haven’t really been even average so far this season. Though there are still two matches left for him to prove the critics wrong. But one can say that his place in playing XI too is under question mark. J&K today lost third match in a row against Delhi and will take Haryana tomorrow at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium Delhi.
There is also talk that he is being sent too late in batting order but looking at stats, in all the three matches played he has got out with number of overs yet to be played. Against Delhi he got out at 14.4 overs, against Services 16.2 overs and against Himachal 14.1 overs.
