Srinagar, May 6: Srinagar’s Mumin Wani succesfully solo climbed the city’s highest peak, Mount Mahadev this Sunday.

An Islamia College Student, Mumin has been to several treks before but it was his maiden solo trip. The youngster climbed Mahadev, which is 3966 metres above sea level, without any companions.

The mount Mahadev is located in the Zabarwan range of Srinagar. Visible from most parts of the Srinagar city, it commands a panaromic view of Dachigam and Dagwan areas, Zabarwan range, Harmukh range, Tral, Srinagar, etc

The jubilant bloke said that he had always wanted to do something new and this solo trip has opened his doors,

“I have been trekking a lot since past few years with my friends, collage groups etc, but this time, I wanted to try something new and more risky to prove to myself that nothing is impossible.” Mumin told KSW.

The trekker decided to climb Mount Mahadev lonely despite knowing the consequences it can lead to,

“I love trekking and thats the only thing that makes me happy. So, I decided to climb Mahadev Peak alone.”

“It was a very tough decision but I was confident enough.
So, I left from home at around 10 AM and then started my journey from Dhara at around 11 AM, reaching Lidwas at 3:30 Pm.” He said.

Mumin stayed at Lidwas for night and began his journey to Mahadev the next morning,

“I decided to stay at Lidwas for the night. It was very difficult to spend the night alone as there was no sign of humans around.”

He also claimed that he saw a few leapords around his camp, making it terrifying night for him,

“I saw two Leopards roaming around my tent, making me stay stranded inside. That night was the longest night of my life but, thankfully, I stayed strong.”

“Next day at 8 AM, I left for Summit and even saw a bear. It was not too far from me but I decided to kill my fear and continue the journey because I had experienced this thing sort of situation before as well.”

After all this struggle, Mumin finally achieved the landmark,

“Then finally, at 11 AM, I reached Mahadev peak.” He said.

Mumin while signing off said that he aims to do similar stuff in the coming days as well,

“I am glad that I did it. This experience is something that I am going to remember for the rest of my life.”

“This is just a beginning, there is still much to acheive.”
