Srinagar: Continuing his medal winning form in national Canoe Slalom arena, one of the top water sport player of J&K, Villayat Hussain has bagged two medals for J&K in the ongoing National Championship for Canoe Slalom.

Competing against the athletes from 20 State and Union Territories, Villayat Hussain once again brought laurels for J&K by bagging two bronze medals. He bagged medals in downstream and K1 Slalom categories. The championship is being held in Maheshwar Madhya Pradesh.

J&K team participated in the event despite not having their own equipment during the event and Villayat still went on to bag two medals. For the event and participating in the championship J&K team has been supported by Principal Secretary Education J&K Government Naveen K Chaudhary.

Team coach Mir Bilques who is alongwith the team said that Villayat once again proved that he is best Slalom player that J&K has.

“It is not first time he has bagged medals, he has been doing it regularly over the last seven to eight years. He has won lots of medals for the J&K over the years and last year was also part of national camp. The competition tough and he still managed to bag medals,” She said.

“J&K team was able to take part in the championship due to active support from Principal Secretary Education J&K Government Naveen K Chaudhary. It was due to his efforts we were able to field team in the championship,” she added.
