Srinagar, September 21: Women’s wing of Hope Alive, an NGO, Monday met former international cricketer, Suresh Raina to discuss sports development in the Valley.
They made Raina aware of the various happenings, mostly related to women sports, to which he responded positively.
“We met Raina and discussed about the lack of sports infrastructure here. He said he has already talked to LG and will come up with things to help sportspeople here,” Farkhanda Khan, a woman cricketer who was part of the group, said.
The group included Soliha Yousuf (Rugby), Qudsiya Altaf (Football) and Aqsa (Taekwondo) and Farkhanda (Cricket).
“We told him about several shortcomings sportspeople face here and he gave a positive reponse,” Khan said.
Raina, who announced retirement from international cricket last month, is in Kashmir to draw plans for sports development.
