J&K State Sports Council has installed floodlights at TRC Turf ground making it first stadium in the state to get state-of-the-art high-end floodlights.
It is first stadium in entire State to get state of the art high end floodlights which will make play possible during night as well. The lights installed are of high end quality that will make live telecast of matches possible in HD quality. For Live telecasts, broadcasters require floodlights of around 1500 to 2500 lux and these installed lights at TRC turf ground fall in the criteria.
With the lights installed now the night matches of football are possibility and football popularity is going to gain extra from this initiative. The organizers of football can now hold night leagues at TRC turf ground and in future across State as well.
As Real Kashmir FC is playing in I-League, there is now a possibility that broadcasters will vouch for night matches in Kashmir that would be broadcasted live. This season Real Kashmir played all its matches in Srinagar during day and some of them were live on national television. However, next season they can now play night matches as well.
The floodlights installed at TRC are functional but the official inauguration has not been done yet. The inauguration of the lights are likely to held soon as 5the official were waiting for the end of Ramadan. The under renovation Bakshi Stadium has also been equipped with same lights while as old city stadium Gani Memorial has also got the lights.
Secretary Youth Services & Sports, Sarmad Hafeez said that Government is going to equip almost all the major stadiums in State with high end floodlights in order to give major boost to night sports activities across the State.
“We are committed to boost the Sports activities across the State in major way. The activation of night sports activities is major step in that direction. We want our youth to enjoy night sports activities like rest of the youth in Country and World are enjoying,” Sarmad Hafeez said.
“The lights installed at TRC are of high quality which will make HD quality live telecast of matches possible. At TRC lights are fully functional but official inauguration is yet to be held. It will soon be thrown open for the sportspersons,” he said.
He said that Government plans to install lights in all major stadiums of the State and out of them some have already got lights.
Real Kashmir FC management is hoping that next season will see night I-League matches being played in Kashmir.
“It is brilliant step taken by Sports Council and it will boost football in State. We hope that next season we will be able to play night I-League matches in Kashmir. It will be major attraction for the fans and everyone will love it. At the same time we expect Government to upgrade facilities at other major fields like Gindun as well so that TRC turf will be relieved of the extra burden,” said Real Kashmir co-owner Shamim Mehraj.
