Akber who is known as the only senior International cyclist from J&K had finished third in the same event last year. He has been giving consistent performance in the cyclothon event over the years and is only cyclist from J&K to bag positions consistently.

In the Chandigarh Cyclothon, top India campers also participated and Akber was still able to bag sixth place.

“Although I have been also to Indian National Cycling camp for one year but right now to ride with current top Indian cyclists makes me feel proud. It is always great to finish among top 10 in Cyclothon because here it is open competition with no category like U23 or U19. All riders have to fight together for the top prizes,” he said.

For finishing sixth Akber also bagged cash prize of Rs: 10,000.
