From U-16 to U-23, captains have been disappointing as it’s still a mystery that on what basis selectors in JKCA nominate skippers.
In U-16, a boy from Jammu was given the charge in first match. Later, in remaining matches, there was a different captain- both went unimpressed.
Same happened with the U-19 team. In one day’s Vivrant Sharma led the team and now Jiyaad Magrey is performing the duties in multi-day matches.
Similarly, in U-23, Tahseen Dar captained the side in first three matches and shockingly was not only removed as captain but sent back home afterwards.
Meanwhile, despite having senior players like Auqib Nabi, Zaid Bhat etc in the squad, JKCA made Suryansh skipper and I’m still unable to understand his tactics.
J&K posted 212 runs in first innings while Himachal Pradesh in reply is 531/6, leading by mammoth 319 runs at the end of Day-2’s play.
The interesting thing is that mainstream bowlers have just bowled 10-12 overs each while as part-timers; Hisham Saleem and Shabir Nengroo were given 17 and 8 overs respectively.
Team performances have already in shambles and strange decision making by captains adds to it. Unfortunate.
