Srinagar: The two-day open Carrom Championship was inaugurated at Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Hawal, here on Wednesday.

The championship was inaugurated by the Director Physical  Education Islamia College Altaf ur Rehman in presence of President J&K Carrom Association Mudasir Khan, General Secretary J&K Carrom Association Adil Rashid Shah, Treasurer J&K Carrom Association Sheikh Saqib, Dawar Rashid member and Arif Sultan Organizing Secretary.

Speaking on the occasion General Secretary of the Association Adil Rashid Shah welcomed all the players and officials of this tournament, pronounced international rules and regulations of the Carrom to the players.

Tournament was played under the International laws of Carrom.  The aim of organising this event is to provide a platform to the interested players to showcase their talent.

As per Association they received around 130 entries for the championship. The championship was played in senior, junior, sub junior, cadets category in both boys and girls section. The inaugural day saw 62 matches being played.

In senior men category, Faizan Mehraj beat Afrid Tahir, Irshad Ali beat Suhail Ahmad, Anies Mukhtar beat Muqsit Wani, Wasim Basher beat Uzair Ahmad, Sahil Qayoom beat Asif Usuf.

In senior women category, Shariqa Majeed beat Aqsa, Fiza Yousuf beat Shafiqa Khan, Adfar Imtiyaz beat Adfar Hameed.

In the junior boys category, M Burhan beat Hakeem Ahrar, Sajid Mehraj beat Sahil Ah Lone, Aman Khan beat Haziq Manzoor, Nouman Manzoor beat Nazim Ali.

In the junior girls category, Azra Khan defeated Mehvish Yaqoob, Maheen Rehman defeated Iqra Jan and Faleen Arif defeated Lubna Noor.
