Srinagar, April 30: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi Wednesday filed a criminal as well as defamation case against former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, PTI reported.

Rizvi alleged Akhtar of making inappropriate comments against him in his recent YouTube video. The celebrated former fast-bowler had said that ban on Umar Akmal was harsh and Rizvi always complicated matters between players and PCB. Akmal was handed a 3-year-ban for not reporting spot-fixing proposals.

Anguished by this, Rizvi filed a case against Akhtar, alleging him of inappropriate comments.

“Shoaib Akhtar should be very careful in his discussions on matters pertaining to the legal community,” Pakistan Bar Council said in a statement.

“The language used by Akhtar was highly inappropriate and disrespectful, and cannot be condoned in any civilised society. The PCB’s legal advisor, Mr Taffazul Rizvi, in his own discretion, has initiated defamation and criminal proceedings against Shoaib Akhtar, while the PCB too reserves its rights.” It added.

Akhtar has several times landed into trouble for his videos in the past as well.
