Owing to the alleged mismanagement by J&K Sports Council, the Run against Child Abuse was marred by pro-freedom slogans at Kashmir University campus, Srinagar on Sunday.

The event organised by council for the 5 to 15-year-old age-group children witnessed large gathering of participants this morning, however, with no proper arrangements made, the run invited a huge mess.

According to an eyewitness, council hadn’t put basic arrangements like traffic control, proper entry points etc on place, hence making it an unsuccessful event.

“No arrangements were made by the Sports Council. Everything was messy here and the large crowd went out of the control,” It said.

“The tents, chairs and other stuff were also wrecked by the mob later. The scenes were terrifying,” another eyewitness claimed.

Parents accompanying the participants termed it an ‘unacceptable’ set-up by the state’s major sports body.

“It’s utterly unacceptable that people at the helm didn’t care about what’s happening in there,” one of parents present at the event said.

They also alleged that officials themselves ran away seeing the conditions while left children to God’s mercy,

“The officials found exit points and started leaving the place while our children were left in trouble,” another parent alleged.

Meanwhile, Sports Council has ordered a probe to enquire the mismanagement that spoiled the event.
