Islamia College opened their campaign in 5th Prof Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup on winning note defeating GDC Baramulla by five wickets in the match played at College ground, Hawal here on Thursday.
Batting first, GDC Baramulla scored 211 runs in 29.4 overs for the loss of all wickets. Jehangir with 74 runs was highest scorer for them while as Ijtiba scored 54. For Islamia College Mehfooz Khan took four wickets and Bilal two wickets.
In reply Islamia College chased down target of 212 runs for the loss of five wickets. Zaid and Bilal scored partnership of 150 runs for the 5th wicket. Zaid with 93 not out in 60 balls was highest scorer for them while as Bilal scored 41. For Baramulla Umar and Junaid took two wickets each.
On Friday, Gandhi Memorial College will meet Islamia College Alumni in third quarter final and on Monday Post Graduates will play AS College for birth in semifinals. The tournament is being organized by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
