Teenager, Qamran Iqbal, on Saturday missed out from India U19 ‘A’ playing XI in the match against India ‘B’, however, sources confirmed that he was given rest ahead of the final and not dropped.
The Srinagar-born cricketer played a swashbuckling 60-run innings in the first match of the Quadrangular series against South Africa, helping India A pip the visitors and hence bagging the man of the match award.
Later, in the second match against Afghanistan, he was removed on paltry 8 runs while was kept out of playing XI in the third match with India ‘B’. Confirming whether Qamran was dropped or rested for this match, a source close to him confirmed, “No, he was not dropped from the playing XI but rested, so that other players in the squad get a chance.” It said.
Qamran will be back in the team for the final of the tournament,
“He will surely make it in the final XI in the final.” Source added.
The right-handed has done exceedingly well in whatever opportunities he was provided with the India U19 ‘A’/’B’ outfit. He might well soon feature in the mainstream team in the upcoming events.
