South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has been charged with a Level 2 offence for his send-off to Steven Smith, during which his shoulder made contact with that of the batsman. Rabada is contesting the charge and is scheduled to appear at a hearing after play on the second day in Port Elizabeth.
If he is found to be guilty of the charge, Rabada is likely to miss the remainder of the series against Australia, because he has already accumulated five demerit points and stands to earn three more, which would amount to two suspension points and a two-Test ban.
