Jammu: Ranjeet Kalra, an ace sports administrator and J&K’s representative to BCCI, called on Farooq Khan, advisor to Lt. Governor J&K and in charge of Youth Services and Sports at the civil Secretariat.

Kalra during the meeting with Khan discussed various issues pertaining to promotion of Sports & Youth Affairs in the Union Territory of J&K.

“Apart from other things the three major requests that I put forward to the Hon’ble Advisor were the framing of a new comprehensive Sports Policy for the Specially Abled Sportspersons, expediting the process of the long pending appointment of outstanding sportspersons under Sports Quota to various government departments and the finalization of the draft a J&K Sports Policy ” Kalra Said.

The advisor was very receptive and issued immediate directions to Secretary
J&K SportsCouncil, Dr Naseem Choudhary for framing of an all inclusive comprehensive Sports Policy for the Specially Abled Sportspersons.

“The Advisor also issued directions to speed up the process of appointment of outstanding Sportspersons .” Kalra added.
“There is sizeable number of Specially abled sportspersons in J&K who Excel in different games .They not only need to be encouraged but special provision s need to be made to promote their games.”

“We are so very thankful to Farooq Khan Sahib for his very prompt action for agreeing to our request for a Sports Policy For the Specially Abled sportspersons,” Kalra, who is also the president of All J&K Blind & Para Judo association, said.
