Srinagar, February 04: A late cameo by talented Abid Mushtaq steered J&K to 280/9 at the end of day-one of their ongoing round-eight match against Tripura at Agartala.

Mushtaq remained unbeaten on 49 runs alongside Mohammed Mudhasir(6 off 6), ensuring J&K gets to bat again tomorrow morning. Auqib Nabi, earlier, missed out on scoring his maiden Ranji fifty as he was trapped leg-before on 46 runs.

Mura Singh, with four scalps to his name, was wrecker-in-chief for hosts while spinner Harmeet Singh bagged a brace. For J&K, debutant Jiyaad Magrey was the standout perfomer, scoring gutsy 66 runs, which including 10 fours.

Several visitors’ batsmen got starts, however, none could convert them into a big score. Meanwhile, considering J&K’s bowling strength, the score looks par as the pitch has help on offer for blokes with the ball.

If tourists manage to add 20 more runs or so to the total on Thursday, Tripura might find it quite tough to answer. Nonetheless, the track might settle down after the lunch, which could be a relief for the host team.
