Star batsman Suresh Raina lead to from front as Uttar Pradesh shocked J&K to win Ranji Trophy match by 6 wickets at Jammu on Saturday.
It was complete turnaround as UP came from behind to win match against J&K who dominated initially. J&k had gained first inning lead of 102 runs and still went on to lose match. In its first inning J&K scored 290 runs with the help of Irfana Pathan’s 91 and Parvez Rasool’s 87. Then in reply UP got all out for 188 runs with Parvez taking 4 and Mudhasir 3-wickets for J&K.
In second inning UP made strong comeback with both bat and ball to outplay hosts J&K. UP bundled J&K in second inning for 111 run total and then achieved that with 6-wickets in bag. While with ball Saurabh Kumar who took 11 wickets in match was hero for the UP, on the last day it was Suresh Raina show. He scored 66 not out and had match winning partnership of 82 runs with Rinku Singh who scored 42 not out. After failing in first inning, Raina took the responsibility in second while chasing to take UP to victory. He smashed three big sixes during knock.
For J&K it was shock defeat as they would have been hoping to win it after earning first inning defeat. A total batting collapse send them to third defeat in this seasons Ranji Trophy.
