Mumbai Indians on Sunday handed shock debut to rookie pacer Rasikh Salam of Kashmir in Indian Premier League as they took on Delhi Capitals in the opening match of IPL 2019 at Wankhade Stadium Mumbai.

As the squads were revealed much to the excitement of Kashmir , the name of rookie pace sensation Rasikh Salam was total surprise. He has been handed debut by Mumbai Indian in its first match of season. That speaks volumes about his talent.  

Rasikh Salam Dar who hails from Kulgam District has now become second ever cricketer from J&K to play in Indian Premier League (IPL). Rasikh Salam was picked by Mumbai Indian’s during players auction. He is now second ever player from J&K to play in lucrative cricket league after Parvez Rasool. Last year Kings XI Punjab had picked Manzoor Pandav for its team but never was given a match to play. Then he was released from team ahead of 2019 players auction.

Rasikh is considered a talent unearthed by Irfan Pathan during atalent hunt in Srinagar. He then on went to play for senior team of J&K under the patronage of Pathan and Parvez Rasool.
