Pakistan Cricket Team Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has expressed hope for Fawad Alam’s comeback into international cricket.Fawad Alam

Talking to media in Karachi on Tuesday, the skipper said that Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee called Alam to the National Cricket Academy and various coaches of the team held meetings with the left-handed batsman.

Sarfraz added that Alam has been performing well in the domestic cricket circuit and expressed hope that he would be able to stage a spectacular comeback in the international arena.

Replying to a question, the skipper said that the selection committee takes him on board before finalising the squad for any international tournament.

“The selection committee is supporting me and whenever I ask for a player to be added to the team, the selection committee tries its best to make the arrangement accordingly,” he added.

Replying to a question about Kamran Akmal, Sarfraz said that he has no reservations regarding the recently discarded wicket keeper-batsman.

“This cricket team plays for Pakistan, and whoever performs well will get a fair chance to play for the country,” he added.

The skipper maintained that players that perform well would continue to be part of the team, and if anyone — including himself — failed to perform, their spot would go to someone who deserves it.

Reiterating his point, Sarfraz said that if Kamran Akmal and his brother Adnan Akmal continued to perform well in the domestic circuit, they would be made part of the team.

Expressing excitement about Pakistan’s upcoming tour to New Zealand, Sarfraz said he would try to continue his winning streak as a captain and bring more honour to the nation.
