Shocker: SFA head- Wadoo’s association with a private club is an achievement for Sports Council

LocalShocker: SFA head- Wadoo's association with a private club is an achievement for Sports Council

Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council calls State Football Academy (SFA) head, Mehrajuddin Wadoo’s association with an U-18 private club-an achievement despite the former footballer turned coach has left his primary role of running the academy.

In an achievement list posted by Secretary Sports Council, Nayeem Choudhary, shockingly, Wadoo’s appointment as head coach in U-18 Pune FC, which is a private club, has also been mentioned.

The Srinagar-based player was last year given the charge of State Football Academy in order to groom the young talent of the state. However, he later chose to join a private club in Pune while leaving his primary role, which has lately affected the growth of this academy.

Wadoo has been coaching the Actor, Arjun Kapoor-owned franchise, U-18 Pune FC for last three months and pertinently, giving less attention to the SFA.

A former footballer while expressing shock over Wadoo’s mention in achievement list said that he seems to be in good books of Sports Council,

“I’m so surprised with this. In spite of the fact that Mehraj has left SFA and joined a private club in Pune, Sports Council calls it an achievement.

“Does it mean, they appointed him in SFA just to double his earnings?” He said.

Meanwhile, another former official also found it ‘bizzare’

“He has left SFA in high and dry condition and on other side, Sports Council is lauding him. It’s bizzare.

“By calling few players for his Pune team from SFA is not development. It is to justify his association with big money minting contract.” He questioned.
