Srinagar: The trail tests for coaching camps and competitions under Khelo India Scheme (Sports for all) started with a great fervour in the state Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, the registrations of the trainees, players were sought by the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and M.A Stadium Jammu and respective district units of the Sports council on prescribed format up to 27 December 2016.

“We are trying our best to promote sports at gross root level and ensuring the maximum participation of sports persons, and enthusiastic youth,” said Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports.
He further added, “The selection trails for different sports disciplines will choose the best talent in the State. We will continue such programs in future, so that the youth of the state reach at International level to bring laurels for the State.” said Ansarisports-council-khelo-india

While talking over phone, Secretary Sports Council Waheed Ur Rehman said, “The sole motive of the Sports Council is to promote and propagate the culture of sports among the youth and to encourage the budding sportspersons in the State and such initiatives will continue in future also.”
“The trainees and the players for the proposed camps and competitions will be selected on battery of tests which started from today, 29th of December 2016, and is being screened by the empowered committee’s of the respective districts,” said Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer Kashmir Division.
A huge number of trainees and players up to the age of 19 years registered their names for trails in the office of the Sports Officer Kashmir at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar and Sports Officer Jammu at M.A. Stadium Jammu besides managers, Incharges of concerned district stadia’s.
On the first day round of selection trails, District Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Kathua, RS Pora held selection trails for the coaching camps and competitions, which showed a huge participation of players and trainees.
“We received huge response from the Sports players; youth who are here in Anantnag stadium for selection trails are showing enthusiasm and great fervour for the trails. Among the three sports, games; 35 were selected among 64 registrations in the Football, 35 in Cricket among 75 and 20 in Netball among 65 registrations,” Says, Incharge Stadium District Anantnag.
On the similar lines, District Pulwama Stadium Incharge said that the response was unexpected, “Such a huge participation of players for selection trails was unexpected and we are trying our best to choose the players, trainees for competition and coaching camps in an objective manner.” Giving further details he said, “The selection trail of Cricket will continue on 31st December also due to huge number of registrations of almost 250 among 16 have been selected and rest 14 will be selected on 31st December. 30 persons have been selected for Basketball and 30 in football respectively. ” said Mushtaq Zargar, Incharge District stadium Pulwama.
“In shopian district competition for two games Thang Ta and Athletics were held and among 84 participants registered for Thang Ta, 20 were selected. Similarly in Kabbadi, 20 were selected among 30 registrations,” said Chief Sports Officer. The inauguration for the coaching camp will be on 31st in Shopian district, he further added.
In Kuthua, trails for two sports Volley ball and Judo were held and among 113 participants of volleyball, 25 were selected. Similarly, 30 participants were selected among 70 in the Judo. The inauguration will be held on 30 December by the president of Gurduwara Committee, shri Manmohan Singh.
In RS Pora, competition for two sports Wrestling and Athletics were hels and 25 were selected among 47 registrations. Similarly, 30 were selcetd among 95 in the discipline of Athletics. The competition and coaching camp will be inaugurated by MLA RS Pora DR Gagan Bhagat and Ranjeet Kalra.
It is pertinent to mention here that the sports activities across the state Jammu and Kashmir have gained momentum. State Sports Council with sports associations affiliated with it has all initiated the process of organizing sports activities across the state. However, organizing of the coaching camps and competitions under Khelo India Scheme (Sports For All) among the major sports activities held by the Sports council.
