J&K State Sports Council has failed to clear the snow from TRC Turf ground, which is the only football field available during winters for the players.

TRC Turf ground is the only synthetic turf field in Kashmir valley and only suitable venue for the footballers to continue their daily practice.

It is also the only venue available to hosts Real Kashmir’s I-League matches. Recently due to snow accumulation on the turf, the I-League match between East Bengal and Real Kashmir was called off.

Despite Srinagar experiencing bright sunshine during last three days, J&K State Sports Council has failed to clear snow from the field.

Teams were seen training on the snow, while Real Kashmir is scheduled to take on Minerwa Punjab in next game on February 17.

“East Bengal game was called off because snow was yet to be cleared and Sports Council expressed its inability to clear it in one-day. Now five days have passed and Council has not done anything. We are not playing football here but just able to warm up on snow,” said a footballer.

When contacted sports officer Kashmir, assured that snow will be cleared soon.
