Before the ball tampering row, Steve Smith the then Australia cricket team captain was at the top of his game and was dominating Test cricket.

The ban imposed took toll him and people forget how good the Smith was in red ball cricket and why he was at top of the rankings with the likes of Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson and Joe Root far behind him.

On Thursday, playing his first Test match in over a year and being first time back in Australia Test squad after serving ban Smith is fighting the lonely battle while all his teammates are having nightmare.

It is Ashes time and England pacers have made life like hell in the middle for the Australian batsman. However, there is one man who still standing in the middle and is playing like he never left Test cricket. Smith has scored yet another Test fifty after being back in Test cricket after a year. Steve Smith has scored his half-century off 119 balls at Edgbaston .

He is currently batting on 66 from 139 balls with Australia eight wickets down for the score of 154 runs in 53 overs. Peter Siddle is at the other end with him and it would nice to see how far Smith can this inning and save Aussies.

If goes on to score a century in such testing conditions, it may well be his best ever century till date.

Meanwhile stormy skies arrive at Edgbaston as tea is taken with Australia on 154/8 after Woakes, Broad and Stokes ripped through the visitors’ middle order.
