CricketT10 cricket in Olympics? Shahid Afridi believes its the best cricket to introduce to the world

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has vouched for the newly introduced T10 League to be the ticket for cricket to the Olympics. The swashbuckling all-rounder, who currently represents team Pakhtoon in the T10 League, which is currently being played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), believes the shortest format of the game has amazed fans with its quickfire style of play and the quality of the cricket in the league has also improved extremely as compared to its inaugural season.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had recently made a bid to include women’s T20 cricket in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, which is scheduled to be held in England, and the cricket council is also pushing aggressively for the inclusion of the game of cricket in the Olympics in the near future. Meanwhile, Afridi has said T10 is the best example to show the world what cricket is all about as it is an overall test for bowlers and batsmen.
“I think this is the best cricket you can introduce in the Olympic Games,” Afridi was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. “I think you can take the game there and show the world what cricket is all about. I think this is the perfect format to introduce cricket and we are all enjoying it, which is the main thing,” he added.
The 38-year-old further said that cricket is bound to evolve with the introduction of T10 and added that it can make the cut to the Olympics due to the short time needed for its completion.
“It’s quickfire, a big test of bowlers. Batsmen can show their skills and I saw myself some great innings, some great skills, some great shots. I think cricket will change with (T10). Even T20 and one-day cricket will change with this cricket. I think you can take it (around the world) definitely because of the time,” the former Pakistan all-rounder stated.
