T20 Tourney: J&K crush Nagaland by 9 wickets

CricketT20 Tourney: J&K crush Nagaland by 9 wickets

An all-round show by Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday handed them a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Nagaland in the first match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at CP Ground, Andhra Pradesh.

J&K skipper, Parvez Rasool after winning the toss, opted to bowl first, while bowlers made sure to make most of the morning session. Experienced campaigner, Irfan Pathan removed Nagaland opener in the very first over and debutant, Mujtaba Yousuf, scalped another in the second, putting the East Indian state on back foot.

They lost few more wickets in a quick succession, however, it was wicket-keeper batsman, Pawan KB, who piloted the innings. He made scintillating 37-ball unbeaten 53 runs to take his team to a fighting total of 136 runs in the alloted 20 over.

In reply, J&K opening duo of debutant, Abdul Samad and Jatin Wadhwan started in style. Both played shots all-around the park, putting Nagaland bowlers in deep pressure. They formed the mega stand of 126 runs before Wadhwan departed on 40-ball 62 runs.

On the other hand, Abdul Samad kept the pace on and finished the game with 25 balls to spare. He made unbeaten 76 runs off 51 balls to earn J&K a nine wickets victory.
